Launch of the Spotlight Initiative Programme in Guyana

The national virtual launch generated great public attention to the Spotlight Initiative in the country. The launch reached approximately 4,164 persons on Facebook via the UN Guyana, Delegation of the European Union in Guyana, Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, and the NCN News pages. The launch was also covered in the nation’s four daily newspapers.

The event featured remarks by His Excellency President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohamed, and the EU Deputy Director-General for International Cooperation and Development Marjeta Jager. The Government’s participation at the highest level is indicative of its commitment to embrace initiatives to end violence against women and girls and ultimately bridge the gender inequality gap.
